In order to ensure the availability of hot water for personal hygiene or domestic use at all times and without delay, even in the event of large or simultaneous drawdowns, an effective solution is to flank a domestic hot water boiler with a boiler for heating the home.

A water storage tank is basically a storage tank that can hold large amounts of water and maintain it at the desired temperature. Let's find out why you should consider buying a water storage tank for your home and what the requirements are.

Boilers can be easily integrated with different heat sources. This gives maximum freedom, whether the goal is to improve an existing heating system or to design a new one.

Types of domestic hot water boilers

Based on reliability and sustainability, we have the three main types of domestic hot water boilers.

Boiler with fixed exchanger

The boiler with fixed exchanger has inside a domestic water tank equipped with a fixed stainless steel coil that can release its heat by heating the liquid in which it is immersed. In some models it is possible to find the presence of two fixed exchangers.

This type of storage tank offers an excellent balance between the volume of water stored and the speed of hot water supply at peak times. The storage tank with a fixed exchanger is particularly suitable for use in renewable energy systems.

Water boiler with interstitial heat exchanger

Boiler with interstitial heat exchanger is also an excellent solution for the production and storage of hot water. They have the same characteristics as boilers with a fixed exchanger, with one important difference: in these devices, the heat exchange takes place through the outer shell of the tank, to which a cavity is attached, in which the water to be heated flows.

Due to the high exchange surface, the water heater with a cavity exchanger ensures an even distribution of the hot water temperature and minimizes heat losses. Compared to the other two types of water heaters, which are generally installed vertically in rooms with sufficient height to accommodate them, a cavity model can be the ideal solution when it needs to be installed horizontally.

Boiler with removable exchanger

The third type of water heater for the production of domestic hot water is the water heater with a removable exchanger, which is often used in systems that must serve medium and large users.

Thanks to its peculiarity, which consists precisely in the possibility of removing the exchanger, this type of water heater facilitates maintenance and cleaning, as well as any replacement operations.

Water boiler sizing

Whatever type of storage tank is installed, it must be sized appropriately. For this purpose, the capacity of the storage tank can be determined according to the number of utilities to be served or, in the case of a single-family home, according to the number of people living in the home.

For example, an apartment building with a centralized hot water system will easily require a medium or large model with a capacity of 800 liters or more. On the other hand, if the need is to serve a small house or a single apartment, a smaller boiler with a capacity of, for example, 150/300 liters volume may be sufficient.
