R-410A is a near-azeotropic mixture of difluoromethane (CH2F2, called R-32) and pentafluoroethane (C2HF5, called R-125) used as a refrigerant in air conditioning applications. Unlike many haloalkane refrigerants, it does not contribute to ozone depletion and is therefore widely used. Carrier Corporation was the first company to introduce a residential air conditioner using R-410A in 1996. Today, R-410A is the preferred refrigerant for use in residential and commercial air conditioning systems in Japan and Europe, replacing R-22.

Most air-conditioners use the refrigeration fluid R410A. Air-conditioners are always filled with a specific quantity of refrigeration fluid. This pre-filled quantity of refrigeration fluid is sufficient for a specific length of pipes. For longer pipes refrigeration fluid has to be added. Specific details about the fill-up quantity per meter of refrigeration pipe are stated in the service and installation manuals.
